PHILADEPHIA, Pa. – Red-shirt senior Neal Richards took second Sunday and three other Keydets placed as the VMI wrestling team competed at the Keystone Classic. VMI had double the number of place winners from last year. 

Richards won three matches by decision (11-5, 10-3 and 7-2) against wrestlers from Penn, Sacred Heart and Drexel en route to the finals.

Max Gallahan took seventh at 184, defeating his opponent from Penn by pin in the 7th-place match. Zach Brown was eighth at 197, beating Nick Fierro of Sacred Heart 7-2 in the process. Job Chishko won three matches, including one by pin, to finish eighth at 149. 

John McGarry won a match at 125, Wil Carpenter scored a 21-6 technical fall victory at 157 and Ethan Carpenter won his first match at 157. Penn won the team competition, while the Keydets finished 10th.  

VMI will compete on Friday, Dec. 6 at George Mason University.
